It was a nice, sunny day as we started the trail, and it stayed that way all day. The area had a snow storm come through two days before, but the snow on this trail was not too deep. The trail was fairly easy and no one had any trouble making their way down the trail.

We did see a lot of logging equipment around the trail. We enjoyed the scenery as we passed through meadows and wooded areas. Everything looked pristine with all of the snow that covered the ground.

With the amount of snow that there was on the trail we did not run the optional loop off of Rule Ridge. We did not think that it would be very safe. The optional loop has a steep hill and you have to turn in the middle of it, and we didn't want to get stuck at the bottom.

At the end of the trail near Woodland Park, Mike got stopped by the snow on the side of the road and spun around sideways in the road. It was the first bit of adventure provided by snowy trails, and Mike enjoyed it. Then we were off to the next trail at Phantom Creek.

Led by Monica I.
We’d already had a full day on the east side of Highway 67, but we thought we’d squeeze another trail…
