Monument Gulch
We had just conquered our second trail of the day and headed for our third, Monument Gulch. We were running it from the south end to the north end, and we found the south end of the trail before we knew it. That is the nice thing about doing this combination of trails -- they are all very close together.
The trail started smooth and continued to stay that way, so we made good time. The group enjoyed the leisurely drive through the woods. We even passed by what is left of some cabins along the way.
We found a promising spur that looked like it looped around back to Monument Gulch, but it was getting late in the day. The group took a vote and we decided to skip this portion of the trail for now. We knew that Old Flowers Road would take quite of bit of time and we still had that trail left to do after Monument Gulch. We are definitely going to have to come back and explore the spurs off of Monument Gulch another time.
It did not take long to get to the trailhead at the north end of the trail. It put us at the west end of Old Flowers Road. How convenient!
