We had a long drive south of Moab to the Needles Area of Canyonlands National Park to run Elephant Hill. It was going to be a hot day with a lot of sun. We aired down at the Visitor Center and then drove to Elephant Hill. The parking lot was full at the bottom of the trail by the trailhead. Most of the people were hikers, though.

We all made our way up Elephant Hill with no issues. We were all having a great time. It did not take that long before we were on the back side of Elephant hill. Some of us did the extra "pull in" and "back up" parts of the trail. Those are always fun.

Soon, we were on the one-way part of the trail. It had some good rock climbs before the narrow part of the trail. The narrow passage was off limits for newer Jeep Wranglers (the JKs) because it is too narrow.

After the narrow passage, we stopped for lunch at a sandy area under a cliff. A little breeze was blowing, which made it a little cooler.

We continued after lunch down Devil's Lane to Chesler Park. S.O.B. Hill was great fun going down, and then it was fun later going back up the hill as well.

Soon we were at the parking area at Chesler Park. We made the short hike down the Joint Trail to a cave with cairns inside it. We all walked around for a short while, and then went back to the parking area at Chesler Park. We headed back to the Elephant Hill trail.

After a short time, we were all at the Silver Stairs part of the trail. No one had any issues with the Silver Stairs.

After finishing the loop, we were back at Elephant Hill to drive the hill from the other direction. It was just as fun then as it was running Elephant Hill in the morning. Soon, we all made it to the parking area and we all aired back up for the long drive back to Moab.

Elephant Hill was the first trail we ran for the fall Moab trip. It was a long drive to get to Elephant Hill, but it’s well worth the drive. We aired down in the parking lot next to the trailhead. The parking lot was very full of cars with people…
