Santa Fe Peak was the second and last trail that we ran for the day, right after a great time on Red Cone.

The drive up through the trees was easy going with some switchbacks, and none of us had any issues going up.

At the Quail Mine, we stopped for a short break and walked around some.

After the short stop, we started up the shelf road to the top. About halfway up we could see a Jeep stopped at a switchback to allow us to pass.

The shelf road is tippy in some spots and going around the corners to switch back sometimes took us a few tries and many-point turns.

We only stayed for a few minutes at the top as it looked like rain was coming at any time.

The drive back down was just as fun as going up. None of us had any issues.
We never did get any serious rain, just some very light rain at the end.

We got back to the trailer parking lot to air back up and then we went home. It was a great day away from the Denver heat.

We had our fingers crossed and all of the wishing worked because we had fantastic weather. When we first did Santa Fe Peak the fog and clouds were so thick that we didn’t really see much of the scenery around the trail. We were really looking forward to really seeing…
