Mount Herman Road
We had a full day of trails planned for the Rampart Range area. We met at the McDonald's in Monument and aired down our tires there. Spirits were high and even though these were relatively easy trails that most of the group had run before. We were definitely excited about the possibility of an added degree of difficulty provided by the snow on the trails from storms earlier in the week. Bob had the added bonus of bagging his 100th unique trail by the end of the day, as well. There aren't too many of us who have reached that number.
The day was clear but cool and everyone kept their vehicles' top up and windows in. We were soon onto Mount Herman Road and climbing the switchbacks. We met little traffic that early in the morning and we were thankful for that because the slick conditions could make sudden stops dangerous. We passed by the balanced rock without stopping.
When we reached the end of the trail, we regrouped and were quickly off to run Balanced Rock Road.
