Italian Creek had a lot of puddles and mud on the trail due to the rain from the night before. Travel was nice and easy, though, and we passed some ATVs along the way. We enjoyed reading the private property signs up in the basin below American Flag Mountain.

At the saddle next to American Flag Mountain we had to stop and wait for a group of about 50 motorcycles to go zipping past us. As we headed down from the saddle we found a huge mud puddle. Jeff skipped it so he could get around and get back in time to get pictures of the rest of the group trying to find the best line through it. Everyone had a good time getting muddy.

Further down the trail we found that the trail split. To the right, you could go up and take the Reno Divide portion of the trail. We decided to stay low and see what the lower portion had in store for us. The lower portion of the trail went through a dense forest that had a lot of swampy parts. Once out of the forest we came to where the Reno Divide portion joined back in and headed toward the exit.
