Yansing Gulch
We all met at Johnson Village to gas up before running Chinaman Gulch. It was sunny out in the morning, but we had a very good chance for rain later in the day. We all hoped that the nice weather would last for most of the day, and we only had a few snow flakes fall on us at lunch for a few seconds. When we got to the parking lot, it had a few trucks and trailers parked in it.
Soon we were aired down and off to the start of Chinaman Gulch for a fun day of four-wheeling. Soon after the start of the trail, the Rock Garden was the first obstacle of the day. The Rock Garden was harder then it was a few years ago, it was slow going for us even though no one ended up having any trouble.
Then we came to a washed out hill. We all took the hard line down the hill. We all got to flex our suspensions for some nice pictures.
This year most of us played on the Rock Pile. Nobody had any issues with the obstacle, and we all took a different line through the pile of rocks.
Matt and Paul had to take the right-side line up Whale's Tail. They both tried the center line, but it did not work out for them this year. They should have aired down lower. The rest of the group made it up the center line, though some went right up and some had to work at it to go up that line. But we all had fun.
Next was the Stairs. Everyone played on the Stairs except for Roger. We stayed by the Stairs for some time, because we had lunch there, too. Paul parked his Scout with it flexed as much as it could be. This was his first more difficult trail run in the Scout and he was having a lot of fun.
Then, soon after the Stairs we got to the Chutes. It was starting to get washed out again, making it fun to drive up. We did not have any issues with the Chutes.
The downhill section near the end of the loop was fun. It was washed out in places and very tippy at times. We all had fun with it, and none of us had any issues with that fun section of the trail.
We stopped at the end of Carnage Canyon to take a look at it. There were two Jeeps at the end of the trail. If we would have been five to ten minutes earlier we would have been there to see them go up. Maybe next time.
Soon we were back at the parking lot and airing up and loading the Jeeps back up onto trailers for the drive home. We all a had a great time running Chinaman Gulch.
