Boulder Mountain
Boulder Mountain was the second trail of the day. It was nice and sunny with warm temperatures outside. The trip started out with a rocky climb up many switchbacks all the way up to the top of Boulder Mountain.
Most of the trail was very narrow. On one of the switchbacks you even had to back up to get around the switchback -- even in a Jeep Wrangler.
Once we got above the tree line we could see Mount Antero and many other mountains.
Soon we made our way to the end of the Boulder Mountain trail. We stopped and had lunch and looked around a little bit. From the end of the trail you could see the little town of St. Elmo far below us.
After lunch we started our way down. When we were almost back to the trailhead we found about eight ATVs headed in our direction. It was hard to get around all them on the trail. We were happy that it was not a group of full-sized vehicles making their way up Boulder Mountain, because passing would have been very difficult.
Soon we were back at the Mount Antero trail and at the end of the Boulder Mountain trail.
