We ran Argentine Pass right after running the McClellan Mountain trail. The two trails are very similar, with long trails between tight switchbacks and a big climb to over 13,000 feet. In retrospect, the trails would probably be more fun if they were run in the opposite order, with Argentine Pass first. The rocky climb out of the valley was pretty fun, even on the way down.

It was snowing quite a bit by the time we started up the Pass, and it was very windy. We got to the top fairly quickly and got out to take a look around. It was so windy you could barely stand up. The wind coming over the pass was very strong.

It looked like the trail had been blocked off with a cable at one point but now it's just obvious it's not a trail because it is covered in rocks and has obviously not been used in a long time. Coming over the top of the Pass here would have been very intimidating. You can see the switchbacks on the other side, still. This would be a good hike in nicer weather.

We came back down Argentine Pass and came back to nice Fall weather. It was a good run!

We met at the Downieville Starbucks, and there were other groups of Jeeps there, too.  It made things a bit confusing, but then we all started talking and it was nice to meet other groups and hear about their adventures.  We had a new member join, Jim, and everyone was…
