Shelf Road
We started the day off by going to the Cripple Creek Ice Festival. We walked around for hour, looking at the ice sculptures and letting the small kids have fun on the ice slide.
After the Ice Festival, we started driving down to Cañon City on the Shelf Road trail. We stopped at the start of the trail for some pictures. Bill sponsored his son, Tom, and they brought their yellow Jeeps.
Most of Shelf Road had spots of ice and snow, but less and less so as we approached Cañon City. Shelf Road was plowed. Where there was no ice or snow on the road, there was mud.
As we got closer to Cañon City, the trail dried up a lot. The outside temperature went from 34 to almost 70 degrees. It was a shock, and it was a nice change to the sloppy conditions on the road.
We stopped in the parking lot for "The Banks" for lunch at the end of Shelf Road before heading to our next trail.
