Tincup was the first trail run for the day. We started at home in foggy and chilly weather, but as we drove up Ute Pass to Woodland Park, the fog disappeared, and we got to enjoy a sunny, fall day with clear skies and only a light breeze.

We met in Johnson Village and drove together to the ghost town of St. Elmo. We aired down there and walked around some to look at the old historic buildings and take some pictures.

The first half of Tincup Pass was very rocky and slow going. We did not run into too many other people on Tincup.

We stopped for lunch at the section of the trail where the Colorado Trail (Continental Divide Trail) crossed over our road. It was a beautiful spot with 360-degree views and a little creek.

After our short break for lunch, we went to the top of Tincup Pass. We stopped here to take in the views and take some pictures with the Tincup Continental Divide sign. The view from that area was great.

We continued downhill towards Lake Mirror, which is near the end of the Tincup Pass trail. We parked there to air back up to drive the rest of Tincup Pass.

After we drove though the town of Tincup, we went to take Cottonwood Pass back to Buena Vista.

We met up at the gas station in Johnson Village. The fog was lifting after some morning haze and it looked promising. It looked to be a great Indian Summer day with lots of sunshine and blue skies. There was some traffic as we started out near the town of…
