We had 15 vehicles on this run so we split into two groups, each an hour apart. We didn't see each other until after running Jenny Creek immediately after this trail.

Run 1 Report: Dave B., Ed C., Gary, J, Jon, Landon, Mike V., Monica, Ray, Robert and Sean H.

The weather had been fairly rainy so the trail wasn't dusty like it usually is, which was nice. We had a big group as we worked our way up the pass on our way to Jenny Creek.

We saw a few bicycles and a few cars (there was a Honda in front of our group) and most of the group had a good time running through the big mud puddle that seems to always be on the trail on the way up before a switchback. There was some good splashing!

We got to Yankee Doodle Lake and there was still some snow on the mountains around it, but no snow on the trail. It was nice and sunny but not too hot -- perfect weather!

Run 2 Report: Bob S., Brian E., Ladd and Perry

We caught a break in the rain during our run down Rollins Pass East on our way to Jenny Creek. We took advantage of that time and aired down at the very beginning to smooth the ride over the often washboard-surfaced dirt road.

We barely lost the race with a train to the second railroad crossing, and had to wait for it before starting our way up the mountain road.

There were a few other cars and motorcycles on the trail, generally pulling off to let us pass (in the case of the cars), or passing us. We all avoided the big perpetual mud puddle on the way up before one of the switchbacks. We were making an (what would later prove to be in vain) attempt to not cover ourselves with mud right from the start.

We kept up a pretty good clip, and it didn't take long to reach Yankee Doodle Lake, still with snow very near above it on the side of the mountain. The trail was clear of snow, though, and it looked to be a good run ahead of us.

We met in Nederland and we weren’t there for very long before it started pouring rain. It was pretty chilly…
