Ophir Pass was the last trail of the day for us, and it was still very nice and sunny.

As we drove up Ophir Pass, we were passed by a lot of other people making their way down the Pass. We did stop for a short break before the shelf-road part of the trail.

Just as we got to the start of the shelf road, we saw a few more vehicles starting their way down the shelf road. So, we waited until they had passed us. Then we went up the shelf road, which was a fun and breathtaking part of Ophir Pass.

We stopped at the top of Ophir Pass at the altitude sign for a short break and took in the view.

After a few pictures, we went down Ophir Pass on the Highway 550 side. We ran into a few more groups of vehicles and ATVs going up Ophir Pass.

At the end of the trail we stopped and aired up for the drive back to Ouray. It was a great first day.

We had completed Bullion King Lake and Red Mountain Pass, and Ophir Pass was only a short jaunt down Highway 550. The weather had changed from bleak and dreary to nearly perfect, and we were looking forward to a mellow and scenic drive. There were no people near the trailhead…
