Mount Antero was going to be our third trail for the day. We were happy to find that the weather was still nice and sunny.

We made our way up the very bumpy and very rocky Mount Antero trail. Soon we were at the creek crossing and making our way to the tree line.

Soon after driving above the tree line we were at the switchback part of the Mount Antero trail. None of us had any issues with all the switchbacks.

The last part of Mount Antero trail was a lot steeper than the rest of the Mount Antero trail. We all made it to the end of Mount Antero trail and parked in a line for a nice picture of our vehicles with Mount Antero in the background.

Then we were off to White Mountain, taking a spur off of the Mount Antero trail. It was a short drive to the end of the spur. The White Mountain spur was steep with loose dirt.

At the end of the spur, we stopped for a few minutes and looked around. There was some pink snow algae on the ground, or "watermelon snow." It seems like a strange place for something to live.

After that, we started our way back down White Mountain to the main Mount Antero trail. Soon we were at the creek crossing. None of us had many issues driving back down Mount Antero.

Mount Antero was the last trail for Marcus and Walt. We all said our goodbyes and Matt, Terry and Mark went on to the next trail on the way to Baldwin Lake.

Led by Matt K.
We met up at Gunsmoke Truck Stope outside of Buena Vista. Looking out to Mount Antero and Mount Princeton, we could see low clouds and the peaks of the mountains covered in snow. It promised to be interesting to get to the end of any trails today, but we were…
