It had been a couple of years since we did Mosquito Pass and we were really looking forward to it. We had a couple of new trips planned, too. We had just come off of the Buckskin Joe trail, and we planned on running South London Mine midway through Mosquito Pass.

After Buckskin Joe, we headed up County Road 10 which merged with County Road 12 and we didn't stop until we parked at the North London Mine. The road is not steep or difficult, but it is very rough. The weather at the mine was a bit windy, and before we left the mine a few snow pellets were falling. The pellets kept up as we worked our way up the pass but subsided fairly quickly.

We soon left the mine and started up to the pass, taking the side trip to the South London Mine and American Mine. The trail is still very rough and rocky. While the trail was wide enough to meet oncoming traffic, one large rock had fallen making the trail around it a bit narrow. We all enjoyed the climb to the top.

We got out for a bit at the pass, though it was windy. We positioned our Jeeps for some pictures with the sign. The trip down the other side was uneventful, because the descent was not as eroded and chewed up as the eastern side. Then, we headed to down towards Birdseye Gulch to check out the filled-in mud pit.
