The first trail of the year looked like it would be a snowy one. We aired down on the side of the road at a small pull out. It was pretty cold at that point, but got warmer as the day went on. After airing down, we were soon on our way to start Missouri Gulch.

The start of Missouri Gulch had seen some traffic and had tracks going down the trail. But the tracks ended about a quarter of the way down the trail. Then it was just us in fresh snow.

The snow at that time did not look too deep, but that would soon change. As we made our way down Missouri Gulch, the snow got deeper and deeper. Soon Matt, the leader, was pushing snow with his front bumper and only moving a few inches every ten minutes or so.

We were about halfway into Missouri Gulch at that point, and we all thought it would be a good idea to turn around and go to Illinois Gulch instead, to see what that trail looked like. It took a bit of time to get everyone turned around in the deep snow, but then we all made it back to the starting point of Missouri Gulch. We did have fun playing in the snow, but it was getting too deep for the Jeeps. Still, there is always more to explore in Rampart Range.
