This was our third trail for the day, and we left Cedar Mountain Road once again to start the trail. Longwater Gulch is a fun trail with steep descents and ascents and we were looking forward to it.

The first part of the Longwater Gulch was a nice drive with some nice views of the area. Soon we were at the Rock Slab. Neither of us had any issues going down the steep section of rock. We did slide a little bit, but it was a controlled slide. At the bottom of the rock we stopped for lunch. Soon after lunch we were on our way to the end of he Longwater Gulch.

At the end of the trail we turned around to make our way back to the start of the trail. The Rock Slab was fun going up and we didn't have any problems with it. Soon we were at the end of the trail. We turned back onto Cedar Mountain Road to head for our last trail of the day, Metberry Gulch.

Our second trail of the day was Longwater Gulch. Walt had been down this trail before the 2002 Hayman Fire devastated the area, but because the trail had only recently been partially reopened this year, it was a new trail for most of us. We weren’t sure quite what to…
