Hotel Gulch
Hotel Gulch was the second trail of the day, and the sun was still out. We stopped near the building for the Manitou Experimental Forest for lunch. As we were eating lunch, we saw a few groups coming down Hotel Gulch. That made us feel better about running the trail as the snow was much deeper than it was on Goose Creek Road where we just came from. We could see the snow was a foot deep or more in spots.
After lunch, we started up Hotel Gulch. Most of the trail was easy going but for a few spots that had really deep snow. Alan H. had to back up one time to get a running start to make it through a deep area of snow with tracks all over the place.
We did not run into anyone on the way up Hotel Gulch. It did make it for a nice easy drive in the deep snow. At the end of Hotel Gulch, we went to Mount Herman Road.
