We met up in Woodland Park and then drove out to the Gulches. We aired down in the parking area on Cedar Mountain Road and then we started down the trail.

It looked like it was going to be a very nice day. It was sunny and warm with no snow. When we drove the Gulches last time, it was white out with snow on the ground. It was nice to have good weather this time.

We went up to the first obstacle, Hackett Rock. As we drove up to the obstacle, we ran into a group of Jeeps ahead of us. We did not have any issues with Hackett Rock.

Most of Hackett Gulch was not hard, just bumpy with some wash-out areas.

Just before the "Y" in Hackett Gulch trail, the group in front of us stopped for a break. We kept going on to the bottom and end of the trail at the river.

We stopped for lunch next to the river. We did not cross the river, but a few of the Jeeps in the other group did, and a lot of side-by-sides did.

After lunch, we went back up the way we came in. Jason did just install a new lift on his Jeep, and he really liked the way his Jeep drives off-road now without hitting every rock on the trail.

Going down Hackett Rock was fun, but the Jeeps did get a little top heavy going down. Then we were off to the next trail.

Our 4×4 group got in full swing after the Hayman Fire that burned up so much of the Gulches. As a result, we hadn’t done the trails before the fire and we rarely did them since they were reopened. We’d heard that they were opened to the other side of…
