The weather was still nice though some clouds were moving above us. It was going to clear enough to really see the Hayman Fire area and the damage that happened. You could see Pikes Peak from the trail, which was a gorgeous sight to see.

About a quarter of the way down the trail we ran into a herd of about 12 deer going across the trail. This would be the only wildlife that we would get to see all day.

Most of the trail was dry dirt though we found some snow on the switchbacks. No one had any issues on the trail, and it was easy going.

About halfway down the trail we stopped for lunch. We stopped at a wide area with a nice view in all directions, and we even had the sun to keep us warm for our entire lunch.

After lunch we finished the trail and we were soon off to Missouri Gulch.

Goose Creek Road was the first trail run of the year! It was going to be a very nice and sunny day for the first run of the new year, with just a bit of snow on the ground from a recent storm. We started out from the Deckers end…
