Dome Plateau was the last trail for the fall Moab run this year. It was nice and sunny, but a slightly cool day. We aired down in the parking lot next to the Dewey Bridge.

The start of Dome Plateau was very rocky up to the gate. We did see a lot of people camping along the side of the trail. We all had fun playing around on some of the small ledges on the way up Dome Plateau.

After going through the gate and closing the gate behind us, we made our way to the first overlook. We stopped for a short break. We all enjoyed the great view to the river down below and across to other mesas.

It wasn't long before we were at Yellow Jacket Canyon. The hill was steep with some ledges on the way down but going back up was not that hard, just very sandy.

We went to see La Boca Arch before going on to the second overlook. At the La Boca Arch parking area, we found out that someone thought it would be a great idea to put their large tent and trailer in the four-vehicle parking lot. It made it pretty tricky to turn around. We did spend some time walking around the La Boca Arch.

After the La Boca Arch, we went to the second overlook. We had lunch at that overlook. We did have a great view from this area as well, and took lots of pictures.

After lunch we continued on to Cave Springs. We spent some time walking around all of the three or four caves. One the caves at Cave Spring you had to crawl to get in, and then the cave opened up to a big room. Not all of us crawled into that cave!

After Cave Spring we went to the optional section of Dome Plateau, the Wash. The Wash was fun and the hardest part of Dome Plateau. We got a lot of great pictures of all of us driving down the Wash.

After the Wash, we backtracked a bit going south down the main trail to the old mining camp to see the old building and mine entrance.

After the old mining camp, it wasn’t much longer before we finished Dome Plateau. The rest of the trail was easy going. We went back to Dewey Bridge to air back up. As always, it was a great Moab trip and we were sad when it was over. Until next time!
