We all ran Deer Creek but we ran it in two different groups. Matt, Roger and Mark did it right after doing the Saints John trail. Bill, Hoa, Mike, Monica and Walt ran it after also doing the Swan River trail. We all managed to finish it before nightfall.

The trip down from the top is fairly mellow. We passed by the Radical Hill trail, bummed that we hadn't gotten to it before the season ended. There's always next year.

We avoided some loose dogs at the Radical Hill intersection too. We hoped that they wouldn't bother the goats that were on the next ridge.

After the trail left the exposed ridge and headed into the trees it got a bit rougher. The rocks were fun in spots and we enjoyed the descent.

It really didn't take long at all to get to the seasonal gate, though. We saw a few spurs we wanted to explore some other time. There just wasn't enough time in the day.

There were a few SUVs on the side of the road after the seasonal gate with quite a few people enjoying the scenery and great weather.

We found the end of the trail pretty quickly and we drove through the town of Montezuma to air up at the trailhead for Peru Creek where there is lots of room. The sun finally set on the second group while they finished airing up, but that still left plenty of time for a great dinner at Dos Locos in Keystone.

It was the perfect ending to a truly perfect day.

Deer Creek was the last trail of the day. It was a convenient way to make our way back down from up high in the mountains. Most of Deer Creek was easy going but we did have some very nice views. None of us had any issues with Deer Creek….
