Dakan Road
We ran this trail from the high point all the way to Rampart Range Road, right after finishing Hidden Valley Road. After Hidden Valley Road, Dakan Road is definitely less exciting, but it's still fun.
The trail was very mellow for quite awhile, and then we hit the only obstacles on the trail. Don smoked his clutch a bit trying it in two-wheel drive and crawling slowly. After that, almost everyone used 4-low to get through it (or powered through it a bit).
There were a few yellow aspen trees here and there, but nothing extensive. We stopped at the big parking area so Don could find a rattle he was hearing and feeling. He found some loose items and tightened them down, getting rid of the problem.
This trail marked the beginning of "Roger Day" for us. Roger found that one of his tires was leaking air at a pretty rapid rate, so he stopped twice to fill it back up. He would continue having issues throughout the day, though they wouldn't really start in until Winding Stairs Road.
We finished Dakan Road and turned down Rampart Range Road to get to Winding Stairs Road. It was going to get interesting, that's for sure.
