China Wall
This was our second winter trip of the year, and we met at the trailhead in the Tarryall Reservoir area to start the day. This was Rose's first time offroading, an exchange student from South Korea who was riding along with Matt. She did have a lot of fun on the trails.
After airing down and disconnecting our sway bars we were off on our way down the trail. The first part of the trail was very easy. The forest service had smoothed out the road over the summer of 2009 and it was easy going.
The first downhill part of the trail was very fun with one to two inches of snow on it. We all made it down without any issues, though. Most of the trail had some snow on it though there were sections of bare dirt here and there.
Then we came to the first obstacle, a rock pile meant for posing. We were happy to see that rock pile was still there and it hadn't been lost to the trail improvements. Matt, Bill and Gary made it over the rock pile without any problems, but then Walt tried it and got stuck on the rocks. Gary pulled him out easily and we were soon on our way again.
The rock slab was next. Matt and Gary both enjoyed climbing up it, and Gary even got a tire in the air on the way up.
The rest of the trail was easy with a some sliding in the snow, but it was not deep. Then we turned around and went back. We went down Forest Service Road 204 heading for the rocky hill. We were sad to see that the Forest Service had graded the hill and we found it very easy to drive in both directions.
We soon made it to the end of the trail and we headed off to Goose Creek Road.
