Cascade Creek
We were already having a good day, and it was still early in the afternoon when we were starting up Cascade Creek. It's one of our favorite trails in the area, but it's too bad it's so short.
There was some snow on the trail here and there, but usually only a dusting. We quickly made our way up the switchbacks, and soon we found our way to the big rock hill.
It's such a blast, that hill. Everyone found their own fun, making their own lines through the obstacle. Walt had an especially good time in his Blazer, and said that the hill was just about at the vehicle's limits of what it could do. We've seen that rig do some amazing things, though, and that obstacle is only one of them.
We did find snow at the top of the hill, though, and all the way down to the intersection with Ute Creek Road. It wasn't deep or particularly slippery, though, so it wasn't a concern.
After we finished the trail, we worked our way up Ute Creek Road to do Saxon Mountain. We were also hoping to run into some other members who were doing Spring Creek. We didn't have cell phone coverage, but we were listening on the CB. As we approached the end of Spring Creek, we heard them talking on the CB.
There are a few spurs up near Spring Creek's end, and they were on a different route than we were. We stopped, though, and they eventually came around to meet us. That made us a nice big group as we headed for Saxon Mountain. Good timing!
