Baldwin Lake was the second and last trail for the day. It did not take long before it started raining as Matt and Tim made their way up the Baldwin Lake trail.

Baldwin Lake is much rockier and steeper than the trail to Mount Antero that we just did. With the light rain, it was fun driving up and over the rocks on the trail. We did not have any issues with the trail.

As we got to the first shelf road part of Baldwin Lake, we ran into a hiker coming back down the trail. Not long after passing the hiker, it started raining again, and then changed to snow for just a few minutes. Getting snowed on was a sure reminder that winter is on its way!

Just before going back into the trees on the trail, Matt missed the turn, so Matt and Tim thought it would be fun to see where the side trail would end. It was a tight shelf road that ended at an old mine shaft. The mine shaft was full of water, so we just took a picture of the interior but didn’t venture in far.

At the mine shift was an area just big enough for two or three vehicles, and the view was great. We were able to see Baldwin Lake from there.

We back tracked to the main trail for Baldwin Lake. At times, the trail got pretty narrow and steep.

Near the end of Baldwin Lake, the trail was very steep with large steps to drive up, but it wasn’t too difficult, and we did not have any issues.

At the end of Baldwin Lake, we took in the views and saw that a storm was coming in, so we didn't stay very long. In the end, it never did really rain very hard on the way back to the start of the trail.

We went back to the same spot that we aired down in the morning to air back up before the long drive back home. It was a great day to be out up in the mountains.
