Devil’s Racetrack
When we did this trail the first time we did Fix It Pass first followed by Devil's Racetrack. It looked like it would be more fun and challenging in the other direction, so we decided to try that. It was! We went to the Fix It Pass trailhead on the south side of I-70 to get under the highway and to the trailhead for Devil's Racetrack, and then we were on our way.
The first stops were at the rock art panels. It was a chilly morning, and the art is in the shade. We didn't stay long, though we definitely enjoyed it. We stayed longer at the Dutchmen Arch because it was in the sun. But we were ready for some obstacles so we soon headed north.
We had so much trouble in The Pits when we were first there, probably because it was in the other direction and it was late in the day. We were all over the obstacle last time, but this time we just drove straight through it. Everyone got some nice flex shots on the slickrock, and then we were through it.
We got to The Drop, an uphill obstacle in this direction, and we decided that would be the perfect place for lunch. It was really nice sitting on the edge of the canyon and enjoying the sunshine. Mike played with his RC Jeep that coincidentally looked a lot like Matt's new Jeep. Matt is probably going to steal that thing when Mike isn't looking.
The Drop was fun, and it was kind of a bummer when it was over. The rest of the trail was all scenery. We could see the Twin Priests in the distance, and it was a good marker as we got closer and then finally passed right beneath it. We saw some side-by-sides there but there was plenty of room to pass.
We cruised down the trail and enjoyed the steep descent down to the intersection with Fix It Pass. It was a great trail in this direction (well, it's a great trail in any direction).
