We ran this trail after running Fall River Road (the one in Rocky Mountain National Park, not the paved road off of I-70) and Bunce School Road. It turned out to be the easiest one of the three, though it was a nice drive.

We went by the west entrance at first, then turned around to backtrack and find it. It really helped having the entrance mapped in the GPS so we knew where it was. It was marked with a bright blue mailbox for the Peterson's.

The aspen trees were almost all yellow, making the trail quite beautiful. There were a few places where we could see through the trees to the mountains around us.

There were a lot of runners, and we guessed that one of the high school track teams was out practicing. They all looked young and some of them looked very tired. It would be a difficult run, but a scenic one.

It wasn't long before we got to the big parking area that is shared with Switzerland Trail. It had been a long day of taking pictures and enjoying the mountain air, so we decided to head back to Estes Park for dinner instead of running yet another trail.

We had a great dinner in Estes Park, wrapping up a great day in the mountains.

This is always a nice drive through the trees, with mountain views showing up here and there. We started on the west side after doing Gordon Gulch. The sky was getting cloudier, bringing the temperatures down. It made it a lazy, relaxing trip. It was a Sunday, so the trail…
