Shelf Road
Shelf Road was the first trail of the day after we walked around the Cripple Creek Ice Festival. It did look like it was going to be a very nice day.
After the Ice Festival, we started driving down Shelf Road. We all thought that we would run into a lot of snow on the trail, but the road was plowed and just had very little of snow on the trail. There was still plenty of snow surrounding us, though!
We did not have any issues with Shelf Road. It was a beautiful drive, with sunshine and the contrasts of the red rocks, white mountain tops, and snow-covered canyons.
With the sun out, we all could see Hole in the Rock as we drove by.
We stopped for lunch at the end of Shelf Road at the parking just of the main road. After lunch, we went to the second trail of the day.
