Saxon Mountain
We ran Saxon Mountain right after running Spring Creek, and we had forgotten how insanely bumpy the trail is. Still, some people in the group hadn't been on it before so it was worth it.
The sun was shining and the views from the top were amazing. We started down, and Robert realized he couldn't get out of four wheel drive. After some manual intervention he was back in two wheel drive and we were on our way.
There was some snow on the trail in the shady spots (much more than we found on Spring Creek) but it wasn't a concern. It might have been if there were fewer of us or if we were stock and without winches.
The big puddle was there, and we splashed through it a bit.
When we came out of the trees we really enjoyed the view of the switchbacks, Lake Georgetown, and I-70 far below us. It was slow going with all of the bumps, but we eventually made our way down to Georgetown. We saw a few vehicles on their way up, but passing was fairly easy.
We aired up at the lake and then headed down to Idaho Springs for dinner at Beau Jo's (of course). It was a great day!
