Red Cone
Red Cone was the first trail of the day. We aired down at the start of the trail. We were all very happy to see that it was not very smoky outside from all the forest fires going on in the West. It looked like it would be a great day.
Soon, we started up Red Cone. Most of the trail was not that hard, just slow going.
When we stopped for a short break on the way to the top, a group of vehicles passed us. It was a bigger group than we were.
We ran into them again later on the trail, but that time they were the ones taking a break. We passed them this time.
Soon, we were above the tree line and we were able to see the top of Red Cone.
When we got to the top at last, we stopped for a short time to take in the view. The other group of people stopped before they finished the last part of Red Cone to the top. So luckily we weren't all at the top at the same time.
As we drove down the steep, one-way part of Red Cone, we could see the other group was coming up to the top of the mountain.
At the bottom of the steep one-way part of Red Cone, we stopped for a short break. We could see the other group up on top of Red Cone. It was an easy time to share the trail and we weren't in each other's way. Then we headed down to Radical Hill.
