Radical Hill
While we were eating lunch at the base of Radical Hill, everyone kept looking up at the steep trail. "Are we going up that?" people were asking. "We could go back up Red Cone," was the response. After a great lunch, we packed up to get up the hill.
Once back in formation, we found another group of 4-wheelers following us up the hill. We also had two separate groups of ATVs coming down the hill. So, we waited and waited and waited some more. They were finally past us, so we started to head up only to see three more motorcycles coming down the hill. The last motorcycle finally passed us, and said that there was a traffic jam at the top of Radical Hill. We waited a bit more, than finally went up to the top. The view was spectacular, prompting a camera shutter frenzy.
After a short break, we piled into our vehicles and headed down the Middle Fork of the Swan River, but not before we parted ways with Ladd and Bob who went a different way out. After our good-byes we headed down the trail.
On the way down, someone came over the CB to point out some skiers on our right. A large snow drift refusing to melt covered part of the mountain while a couple of guys were skiing down it. This provided some comic relief. All of us agreed that they were nuts!
The trip down the Middle Fork was nice, and we stopped in the old town of Swandyke to check out the cabin and the buried truck. Soon enough, we were at the bottom and we went off to the real reason we came this way -- to do S.O.B. Hill.
