Mosquito Pass
We met up at a gas station, and we waited for some time before finding out one of our group was not going to make it. So we left to the start of Mosquito Pass. We aired down in a small parking area right off the main highway.
Soon after airing down, we were driving up to Mosquito Pass. It was very smoky in the area from the many wild fires. Probably because of all the smoke, we didn’t see many people on Mosquito Pass. We started from the Alma side and headed up.
Because it was so smoky up in the mountains, we did not stop until we made it to North London Mine. Most of Mosquito Pass was not hard to drive at all, but just before North London Mine the trail did get steep and rocky. Neither of us had any issues with the harder part of the trail.
We didn’t stop again until we made it to the top of Mosquito Pass. There was some snow on the side of the mountain, but no snow on the trail. We took a few pictures and talked about this being the only trail for the day. It was just too smoky out.
While descending on the other side of Mosquito Pass, we ran into a group of side-by-sides going up. They stopped in a wider area of the road so we could pass. And that was just about all the people that we ran into on Mosquito Pass!
Not far from the end of the trail we stopped for lunch. After lunch we finished the dirt part of Mosquito Pass and aired back up at the start of the pavement and went home. Even with the smoke it was a good day on the trail.
