Gould Mountain
We had spent the day in State Forest State Park on both sides of County Road 41. We left the scenery at North Michigan Reservoir and headed across to the other side to find the trailhead. We headed up the trail, and Niko decided he needed to move some gas out of his spare tank to his Jeep. It had been leaking a bit, and he figured he filled it up too much. He was right, and that fixed it.
There were some pretty overlooks in between long stretches of trail in the trees. The views were really nice when we had them, though, of the mountains around us. The sun was out, and the day couldn't have been nicer. It was the perfect temperature to get a little drowsy as you drive, but the scenery kept us awake.
We made the big loop, and the best scenery was near the end as we worked our way back to the trailhead. There were yellow flowers on both sides of the trail, almost shimmering in the bright, Colorado sunshine. Under the blue sky and puffy white clouds, it was stunning.
We drove along the shores of the North Michigan Reservoir on our way back, and it looked like there were a lot of people enjoying the day around the many campsites there. We wanted to finish Bull Mountain, so we drove back over across the county road to finish our day.
