Georgetown Ice Races
It had been five years since our group hit the ice, so it was about time we made it up there. We tried to join in the fun for the first Friday Fun Day for the season, but there were so many people that they closed the ice before we could get on it. This time we were there early and we got wristbands, but the lake was still pretty packed for most of the day.
Roger hadn't been ice racing before, and he was caught laughing a lot. The weather was chilly but nice in the beginning of the day, but then it snowed off and on in the mid-afternoon. It was always pretty cold, so we were happy to stay warm in our Jeeps. Having the CBs was nice, as always.
We raced against strangers and against each other. The races were usually very close. There were three different tracks and they were all fun. It was the first time we'd seen one with a figure eight and a right turn (they've always had only left turns before).
It was great to get back on the ice. We'll have to do it more often than every five years!
