Georgetown Ice Races
We didn't have a big group from TrailDamage, but we had a good time racing. The sun was shining and it was warm even in the wind, making it a very nice day for the Ice Races.
The track set up was called the "Reverse Boot" and it was difficult, making you drive a little slower to avoid hitting cones. It had two 90-degree turns in it where you had to slow down considerably (see the picture of half of the track). The slow track coupled with a little bit more snow on the ice made driving a lot of fun.
Julie raced in the Women's class and came in third, doing really well. Perry tied for his first race (again!) so the race was done again immediately afterward. Perry didn't do as well for the tie-breaker race and ended up losing in the end, but he still had fun. Though he came close to hitting a cone he managed to avoid getting disqualified.
The craziest thing that happened was a modified Jeep that usually raced in the Bare Rubber classes ended up on its side on the ice. The Our Gang monitors said it was the first time something like this had happened. The situation must have been exactly right (or wrong) to actually flip a car off of its tires like that.
It was a great day for racing and we got home very early compared to other days.
