This was the first run of our Fall trip to Moab. It's always a good trail to introduce you to slickrock and a great way to get used to driving at extreme angles while still being totally safe. It was the first Moab trip for Ladd and Derek so Fins & Things was a great way to start.

We started out first doing Baby Lion's Back, which put a smile on everyone's faces. Then we got to the good stuff. Everyone had a good time on the fins and in the sand, and it was especially nice because we really didn't see anyone on the trail so we had time to experiment and test the stickiness of the rock. When we came down the biggest hill we all tried to stop near the end but with all the sand on the rock we all slid our way to the bottom and the sand.

The best was probably Kenny's Climb -- the tall, optional hill up the side of a fin. We all got up the nerve to try it, only to find out through the course of the Moab trip that the hill was a taste of what was yet to come. Ladd even had his Jeep doors off for the first time. This trail is always so much fun and we ran it just before Hell's Revenge.

We had a “classic Moab” trip planned for the fall, when we’d do a few of the most popular trails in the area.  We usually try to do more new trails and explore new areas, but sometimes we just need some slickrock.  The Fins & Things trail has the best…
