Eagle Rock
We met up at the Home Depot parking lot in Colorado Springs. After talking for short time, we made our way to the start of the trail and aired down. There were a lot of other people airing down at the same spot.
After airing down, we went to the start of Eagle Rock. As luck would have it, Brian's "Check Engine" light came on. He thought it was from driving on all the washboard roads. So, he used his scan tool and reset the vehicle computer on his Jeep. Indeed, he did not have any other trouble the rest of the day.
There were few people camping right where Eagle Rock started. It is not a technically difficult trail in that area. As you get closer to the hill climb though, Eagle Rock starts to get harder, and then the trail gets steeper. Matt tried to go up and over some of the big rocks and could not get traction with the loose, dry ground. He was getting stuck on his frame and axle. So, he backed up some and went up the easer side of the trail. Brian followed the same way taking a bypass, as well.
After this challenging hill, the trail was an easier drive again for some time. The creek crossing was not too bad to get through, but the tight, right turn after it was!
Near the top of Eagle Rock was a section profoundly eroded and washed out, and Brian had some fun driving through it. His wife kept telling him to keep going and not to stop, and that approach worked well for them - and it was fun! He drove right up and out of the washout area.
At the end of Eagle Rock trail, the creek was frozen. We drove up the small obstacle near the creek. It was fun and showed off the Jeeps' flex.
After Eagle Rock we went to Mount Baldy.
