In between snow storms every other week, we found a break in the weather. So, we went out to run Chinaman Gulch. We met up at a gas station and then went down to the trailhead for Chinaman Gulch. We aired down in the parking area at the trailhead. We did have a side-by-side that was very loud, racing up and down from the parking area to the start of Chinaman. We were happy to get on the trail to get away from the loud side-by-side.
The first hill was fun going up, like always. Soon, we were in the Rock Garden, which was fun. We played around on the rocks for some good pictures.
When we got to the Rock Pile, Matt went and played on the obstacle. He took the center line up and over the rocks with no issues.
Niko was next to play on the Rock Pile. He first went to the right to see what his new, bigger-size tires would do going up and over the obstacle. He had to work at the Rock Pile last year.
After taking on the right side, Niko thought it would be fun to going through the Rock Pile from the center line like Matt did. But the center line would not work out for him very well at all. His right, front end went way up in the air and his rear hit a big rock and threw his driver's side of the Jeep into a bigger rock that crushed in his driver's side door and hit the hinges for the rear, driver's side door. We had to winch Niko off the Rock Pile with Matt's Jeep so he could get the right angle and not do any more damage to Niko's Jeep.
We also ran into Trail Damage Member Chad and one of his friends at the Rock Pile. It was nice to see that he was out having some fun on a trail run of his own.
Soon, we made it to Whale's Tail. Matt went up the center line without spinning a tire at all. Niko went up the right side of Whale's Tail with no issues. He really had it for the day after the door damage.
When we got to the Stairs we stopped for lunch and then went to the Chutes.
At the Chutes, Matt slid off the right side and had to back down some to get a better line to go up the obstacle. Niko had Matt spot him up the Chutes with only trying one time to make it up the crack in the rock.
On the way back to the parking area and before the Rock Garden, we stopped at the end of Carnage Canyon to take a look at the Canyon again. We didn't do any of that trail, though.
We did have fun on this trail run with great weather.
