We came off of Hurrah Pass and noticed the morning was really heating up. The sky had a few puffy clouds, but otherwise it was sunny and pretty warm. We headed off to the end of Chicken Corners.

The ride there isn't particularly challenging, technically, but it is challenging to find the correct trail. Many people have driven off trail, and it many spots it is difficult to tell which is the correct one. It was frustrating and sad to see how much the trail had been torn up. We did our best to pick the most obvious trail.

There are a few bumps along the way, but the best part of the trail is near the end at the narrow spot. We worked our way around it and parked at the end, trying to find shade as best as we could.

Everyone but Monica hiked out to the end. Matt jumped up and down and even did a bit of climbing near the edge of the cliff. Julie got out to the edge, too. Not a lot of time was spent on the edge, though, and when everyone got back we decided to break for lunch. We kept moving our chairs closer and closer to the wall as the shade kept shrinking. We shared our spot with a couple guys on dirt bikes, but otherwise it was all ours.

It wasn't long before we were headed back, and we even saw a side-by-side and family breaking for lunch way off of the trail. They were too far away to call to them, so we left it alone. Hopefully they can get the trail more under control before it gets completely out of hand.

When we got back to the wash we headed for Lockhart Basin. Chicken Corners is always a nice time.

We ran this trail in about an hour and a half immediately after Hurrah Pass and before Lockhart Basin. It wasn’t particularly challenging but the views were amazing. The part of the trail where you have to drive near a cliff is not as intimidating as we had thought it…
