Caribou Creek
We ran this trail at night immediately after running Eldorado Mountain. We were a small group so it didn't take us very long. Also, running at night limits the number of pictures we can take.
We saw quite a few campers and camp fires as we worked our way to the creek crossing. It was chilly but nice out, with no wind or rain.
It was shocking how much the creek section had changed since we last ran the trail in 2003. There is now a track where you must drive -- there are no longer any options in the creek area. It is marked off with boulders and the route through it is now very smooth on both sides. We all drove through it and continued on.
It was upsetting to see the whoopdeedoos gone. It was always such a great place to check your suspension and see how much flex you could get out of it. The area is completely blocked off now and the bypass is now the only route. It is also dug up so people will not climb over the boulders to get to that section.
We drove through that area and out to the dirt road, then out to the highway. We aired up in the pull off area just past the entrance on Highway 72, then we were all off and headed for home. It was a long day but a good one!
