Last Dollar Road
Last Dollar Road was the first trail of the second day in Ouray. Just as we started to air our tires down at the start of Last Dollar Road, a bigger group of off-road vehicles started down the trail without airing down. We saw them air down later on the trail.
The start of Last Dollar trail is easy -- it is really just a dirt road. After a short time and a left turn, though, the road got rockier but still wasn’t that bad. In this section, you can see deep ruts in the road. If Last Dollar Road was wet, it looked like it would be very hard to make it down the trail.
We stopped at a clearing with a small overlook where you can drive up to get a picture overlooking the valley.
Last Dollar Road weaved in and out of treed areas as we got closer to Telluride. Going down the switchbacks, they did not give us any issues, and we did enjoy the great views.
Near the end of Last Dollar Road was a big parking area that gave us a view of Telluride and the Telluride Airport. The airport was just below this area. We watched a few aircraft take off and land as we looked down at them.
Soon after we left our airport views we were at the highway and at the end of Last Dollar Road.
