Golden Spike
Golden Spike was the next trail of the day after Poison Spider Mesa. It did not take much time to reach the Launch Pad. We all had fun going up the steep slickrock.
At the top of Skyline Drive, we stopped for a group picture and take in the view. Then, at the bottom of the area around Skyline Drive, we stopped for lunch under a big overhang. The overhang was nice for the shade.
We stopped at the next overlook for a short break. We all enjoyed the view of Moab from up high.
At the Golden Crack, we all stopped to take pictures of us going through it. All of us made it through the Golden Crack, and we stopped for a short break and talked to some other people running the trail. Sometimes the Golden Crack takes a while, but we got through it pretty quickly.
The Golden Stairs were fun. Matt and Sean made it up without winching. Jason needed just a little help with the winch for the very last step.
At Double Whammy, we all took the bypass through Body Snatcher. The rest of Golden Spike was fun and none of us had any issues. At the end of Golden Spike, we turned downhill onto Gold Bar Rim.
