Coney Flats
Coney Flats was the last trail for the day, right after the fun of Middle St. Vrain. The first part of the trail had some rocky spots and was no issue for us.
About halfway to the lake, we came to a big rock pile area. Matt went the hard way through the rock area and had to try a few times, because he was fitting both front and rear axles on a rock. But Matt did get his Jeep's wheels lined up right to get up and over the rock eventually. He was having some fun.
When we made it to the lake there were a lot of people there. One Jeep was being worked on. He got the engine wet.
Matt went through the lake and stopped at the other side. The lake water crossing was deep, almost up over the rock guards on his Jeep. Niko went through next. We stopped there on the other side of the lake for lunch and watched two side-by-sides go through the lake. They made the lake look very deep as their hoods were pushing the water.
The rest of the trail was rocky with small hill climbs and muddy water holes to drive through. We aired back up at the end of the trail by the dam for the big lake. The dam’s water overflow had water running through it. It was nice to see it so full.
There's a reason these are two of our favorite trails. We had a great day.
