Coulter Mesa
It was already a long day, and when we got to the top end of Coulter Mesa we briefly talked about what to do. We could take Hay Flat and Little Box Canyon back to our campgrounds and hotel, or we could get another new trail in before the sun was completely down. For us, that's usually a pretty easy decision. We quickly mapped the last remaining bit of Hay Flat and headed down Coulter Mesa.
There are two, different ways from one end to the other. We took the most-traveled trail, hoping it would get us back sooner and easier. It ended up being a very easy trail.
We snapped as many pictures as we could before the sun went down, and the light made everything gorgeous.
Even though it was getting late, there were a lot of people on their way up the trail. We saw an abnormally high number of white Class B motor homes and white converted vans. Everyone seemed to be on their way up to camping somewhere in the hills. There were lots of places to camp.
When we got back to the campground, we all found our way back to our beds. It was a long day filled with many scenic miles, and it was good to stop driving. We definitely saw the Flat Tops!
