Michaelsen Creek
We found ourselves on Lakeshore Drive yet again, as we'd seen it every day of our Grand Mesa trip. We took it from the Grand Mesa Visitor Center all the way to Michaelsen Creek, which is almost back to Collbran and the Lakeshore Drive trailhead. We decided to skip the report for it on this day, though, because we didn't stop or see much. We did see a bunch of cows surrounding a tent on the way back, though, with a cow standing in the campers' fire ring, too. Funny stuff!
Michaelsen Creek is easy enough to find, next to a sign marking the way to Youngs Lake and Leon Creek -- our two, primary destinations. We found an easy road from the start, and we pulled off to do Youngs Lake and come back before heading to the end of Michaelsen Creek.
Every once in a while we find a trail that has no discernible purpose, and this is one of them. The maintained and easy road goes all the way to the end at a turnaround, where there is no lake or special scenery, no hiking trails, and no buildings. It just ends, where you turn around. It was very weird, and we had a laugh.
After turning around, we headed off to do Kenney Creek Reservoir. Michaelsen Creek is an odd one.
