Kiser Creek
We couldn't believe how many trails we'd seen in one day, and how much ground we'd covered. We popped out of Old Grand Mesa Road South onto Highway 65, and it was only a short discussion before we decided to add yet another trail to the list for the day. It was right across the highway and it headed down into Cedaredge. That was our destination anyway, so there was no way we were going to skip it.
The beginning of the trail was confusing because it wasn't really marked. It's next to cabins, so we followed our maps to get by that developed area and onto the trail. It passes through private land, so we made sure not to stop or be loud. Technically, it was a city street. But it was definitely a trail. We cut through aspen trees along a trail that rarely gets used.
We enjoyed how quiet and little-used the trail was. It was dark in the trees. Then the trail came out to follow a fence line, and the views of the valley below us were awe inspiring. You could see for many miles down into Cedaredge. We didn't want to stop, but the views were plentiful from our Jeeps.
We came around a corner and found ourselves at a paved section of the road. Turning left, we followed that down. We passed the private Standingbear Road, and then we were back on the highway but closer to town. It was a nice, little trek and a great way to wrap up the day. We ended up at a fun restaurant on the other side of town, ending a fantastic day along Grand Mesa.
