Old Grand Mesa Road South
Though this trail isn't challenging, it's interesting to see how they used to get across the mesa. All of the switchbacks must have been a nightmare, especially when passing oncoming traffic. We came off of Kennicott Slough Reservoir and did the northern section, and then did the southern section after looping around via Y50 Drive.
It was a nice trek through the trees, and we realized it would be a great way to avoid the highway. We were all aired down, so the fast curves on the pavement were less than ideal.
We came off of the switchbacks and finally ended up back at Highway 65. With a bit of time left, we decided to take Kiser Creek into Cedaredge for dinner instead of taking the pavement. It ended up being an easy shoot across the highway to find it.
