Neversweat Reservoir
Out of all of the reservoirs and lakes we saw over our long weekend on Grand Mesa, Neversweat Reservoir was easily the one with the weirdest name. It is a pretty reservoir tucked below the road along Kitson Reservoir. We saw it from the road the night before, so it was nice to go down to it. We came off of Bonham Reservoir and Kitson Reservoir, and headed up from the southern trailhead.
Neversweat Reservoir was nice, and we took the spur to Cottonwood Lake Number 5. We didn't see any cottonwoods anywhere, so these Cottonwood Lakes had the worst names. It was definitely not very imaginative, but if you have a lot of lakes to name it apparently gets difficult. It was definitely scenic.
We got up to the intersection and tried the southern spur, where we found a huge fifth wheel and motorhome parked on the other side of a muddy area, through rocks and dips. It must have been a challenge to get them back in there, but one of the guys we talked to out there said they took it slowly and it wasn't an issue. Crazy!
The western spur was short, and we saw a truck with a hitch rack try to rip it off in a dip in the road. There were lots of people on that spur. We went out to Bonham Reservoir, turned around and headed back in.
We finished out the trail, and the northern end was the best. We enjoyed Webb Flats when we were on Bonham Reservoir, and they were even better on Neversweat Reservoir. The trail curved around and then we finished it on Bonham Reservoir.
We talked about the easiest way out, and ultimately decided to take Neversweat Reservoir back out the way we came in. It was an easy drive back out to Kitson Reservoir.
