Pennsylvania Gulch
Even though this is a one-way trail, we still get nervous about oncoming traffic because it's not physically marked at the top. We got lucky and had the trail to ourselves, though. We did the southern half of Switzerland Trail to get to the Pennsylvania Gulch trailhead and headed uphill.
The first section is a nice hill climb, but not too challenging. We didn't get out at the Dolly Varden Mine area, though that's the only place you really can stop. We were looking forward to seeing what the last few years had done to the challenging part of the trail, the majority of the hill.
Most of it looked as it did when we saw it last, but it seemed like the sections that had some dirt in addition to rocks were a bit more dug out. The last bit of the hill climb would have been difficult if we didn't have our sway bars disconnected. It was very flexy and fun.
We stopped up at the clearing for a bit, just to enjoy the day before we ended it. Holly's CB antenna had caught in her soft top, but it didn't do any permanent damage. We stayed for a little while, and then headed back to the Kelly Dahl Campground where Bryan and Christian were waiting. It was a great day of wheeling.
